Everyone at CEE, as well as friends of the school, can make a difference at CEE by giving time, special talents, and financial support. We're an independent school. That means that we receive no financial assistance from government. So we rely on tuition and contributions to offer our students the excellent education for which The Center for Early Education is known.
What does tuition cover?
Tuition covers 79% of the cost of a Center education. The remaining 21% must come from contributions and any income generated by the school's endowment and investments.
In an effort to keep tuition increases as manageable as possible for Center families, we rely on the generosity of current parents, grandparents, alumni and some foundations. The Annual Fund Drive - Joining Hands: A Partnership for Excellence - and our Gala Auction are the two primary fundraising activities that supplement tuition.
Why not raise tuition and forget about contributions?
We could. But we won't. Independent school tuitions, at most schools, are high. Keeping tuition as affordable as possible allows CEE to attract families who otherwise might not consider an independent school. And we want as much economic diversity among our families as possible. That's one way, along with ethnic, racial and lifestyle diversity, that our school family can mirror the world beyond the classroom walls.
How can working parents volunteer in any meaningful way?
At CEE, many of our families have dual careers. We understand that working and raising a family doesn't leave much time to volunteer. So we offer a variety of options, from service that requires just one meeting to projects that are more like part-time jobs! Virtually all of our parents, and many of our grandparents and alumni, find a volunteer opportunity that fits their schedule and interests. We've had so much help for so long at The Center that, frankly, we couldn't do all that we do without our wonderful volunteers.
